Meditation has become a well-known physical, mental, and spiritual practice. While an individual’s purpose to begin meditating can vary, those who partake in the practice often find themselves able to become more present in their lives. If this concept sounds familiar, it is because the concept of mindfulness carries similarities to the practice of mediation. Mindfulness is considered the ability to become fully present in our lives, whereas mediation is a practice that enables individuals to gain awareness of the present moment. Noah Daniels’ e-book “Mindful Meditation: A Beginners Guide To Demystifying Meditation & Being Mindful” informs readers as to why mindful meditation works, “Buddhist mediation [one of the most popular forms of meditation practiced, even by non-Buddhists]...comprises four main components. These are mindfulness, concentration, insight, and tranquility” (Pg. 12). With these components, those who practice mindful meditation routinely can gain improvement in different aspects of their lives. Daniels’ e-book shares some of the aspects of our lives that mindful mediation can improve, as listed below:
Study and Concentration
Relaxation
Subconscious and Dreams
Marital Lives
Healing Emotional Wounds
While there are different reasons or areas of our lives that may cause us to seek mindful meditation, it is important to understand that as a practice this requires time and devotion to truly improve our daily lives. Daniels emphasizes that practicing mindful meditation does not require a lot of time, and can be performed in the duration of a few minutes at any time of the day; it just needs to become a part of our daily routine. Mindful meditation has the power to allow individuals to embark on a physical, mental, and spiritual journey. Are you ready to start your journey with mindful meditation?
